§2Method

P_now = P0 × I_now ÷ I_m0, where I is the index value for the month. Values come from the BLS Public Data API and are stored in this site's database with their preliminary flags.

Clause preview: if |I_now ÷ I_m0 − 1| > band, the new price = P0 × (1 + share × (I_now ÷ I_m0 − 1)); otherwise the price is unchanged.

The index measures producer prices for the whole category, not your supplier's costs. Use the result as a reference point for negotiation, not as a quote.
