C-08 Heat treatment (ISPM 15) certification clause

Makes the supplier responsible for the ISPM 15 treatment and mark, and for the cost when a shipment is refused because of them.

Last reviewed October 27, 2026. How we check facts

§1Model wording

8.1 Standard. Pallets ordered as "HT" shall be treated and marked in accordance with ISPM 15 as published by the IPPC, using heat treatment (minimum 56 °C for 30 continuous minutes throughout the wood profile).

8.2 Mark. Each Pallet shall bear a complete, legible ISPM 15 mark on at least two opposite sides, including the producer code assigned under the Seller's enrolment.

8.3 Repairs. Pallets repaired after marking shall be repaired only with treated and marked components or re-treated and re-marked.

8.4 Liability. If a shipment is refused, treated or destroyed at destination because a Pallet did not meet this Clause, the Seller shall reimburse the Buyer's documented costs up to [cap].

Values in [square brackets] are yours to set. Have counsel review before use; this is not legal advice.

§2Negotiation notes

Most suppliers will ask for a cap on 8.4. Agree one, but keep it above the cost of a typical refused container.
